Alfia Bakieva violinist of Tatar origins was born in Novosibirsk, Russia and lives currently in Salzburg, Austria. She is a multi-instrumentalist, especially in the realm of folk music, playing violin, folk violin, kylkobiz, ghizzhak and other similar instruments. Furthermore, she is a founding member of the folk music ensemble Ekiyat, which has put its focus on Tatar folk traditions.

She studied violin with E. Baskina at the Novosibirsk Specialized Music School, baroque violin with Enrico Onofri at the Conservatory „V.Bellini“ (Palermo) and Hiro Kurosaki at the Mozarteum University (Salzburg).

Alfia has received numerous scholarships, particularly by Roman Abramovich and the Shostakovich family, received at the VII international competition of D. Shostakovich quartets.
In 2017 she was a finalist of the Ancient Music Competition Brugge and in 2018 won all three prizes for chamber music groups in Göttingen Händel Competition.

From 2004 until 2008 she was the assistant concertmaster and solo violin of the Musica Aeterna orchestra of the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre of Teodor Currentzis. 

Besides folk and early music, she has a passion for tango, and she collaborate with Argentinian Tango Orchestra Rascasuelos directed by renowned composer and bandoneonist Patricio Bonfiglio. Together they performed at Rock Festival Roskilde in Copenhagen in 2018, the line up of which included Dua Lipa, Massive Attack, Gorillaz etc. 

She is currently engaged as soloist , concertmaster and sectional leader with various groups and orchestras, including Dresden Festspiel Orchester, Il Pomo d’Oro, Zefiro, Ensemble Hemiolia,il Concerto Scirocco , Balthasar Neumann Orchestra,Cappella Mediterranea, Basel Kammerorchester , Ensemble Imaginarium, Suono d’Oro.

In September 2021, as one of very few musicians, Alfia Bakieva participated in the Jumpstart Jr. Auditions in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She has been awarded a Francesco Ruggeri violin, built in 1680 in Cremona, Italy, for a period of 7 years.
